Kimberly Vargas - LU-1150  

North East Regional Director

Kimberly Vargas is deeply passionate about advancing LGBTQIA+ rights and has a proven track record of leadership within the union, making her a valuable asset for this role. Since joining the Teamsters in March 2009, she has held several leadership positions, including her current role as the elected Chair of the Teamsters 1150 Pride Caucus. Additionally, she serves as the Political Coordinator of Teamsters Local 1150, where she has empowered LGBTQIA+ union members, fostered inclusivity, and created a supportive community within the organization.

Her involvement in the Letter 35 joint committee has allowed her to champion open-mindedness, diversity, and innovation in the workplace. By embracing new ideas and perspectives, Kimberly diligently works to improve the implementation and outcomes of provisions that benefit all union members.

In 2022, she played a vital role on the negotiations committee, successfully negotiating the contract between the union and Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company. Representing over 4,500 union members, she ensured that the interests of the LGBTQIA+ community were protected while also focusing on the industrial and economic well-being of all members.

Kimberly resides in Connecticut with her wife, Lisa, and their son, Grayson. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, she understands the unique challenges faced by individuals and families like her own. This personal connection fuels her passion for advocating for change and promoting inclusivity.

Confident in her ability to serve as an effective Northeast Regional Director, Kimberly is eager to contribute to the advancement of LGBTQIA+ rights and representation within the Teamsters chapter.
